Ramadhan begins; restaurants sell Haleem

Pic used for representational purposes only

The season of Ramadhan (Ramzan) began on Sunday for the Muslim community. A time for prayer, reflection, fasting and charity. And Haleem food is being marketed hot by some local restaurants.

Even as the community met for prayer this morning and will do so five times a day, assigned cooks were busy in some mosque campuses cooking up the gruel that is distributed to the faithful after the evening prayers, to break the fast.

Popularly, this food is called haleem and it has not got commercial all over.

Hyderabad Haleem is sold at Zaitoon’s restaurant at Velachery – 4202 0111/222. 9941990003
