Velachery lake, which now lies partially covered by water hyacinth, will be restored at a cost of Rs. 25 crore. The announcement was made by CM Edappadi Palaniswami in the assembly recently, as part of the Rs. 1000-crore budget for water conservation and renovation of water bodies.
